Trezor Wallet Setup — Trezor.io/start

What You’ll Need

Before you begin setting up your Trezor wallet, ensure you have the following:

• A Trezor hardware wallet (Trezor One or Trezor Model T).
• A computer or mobile device with an internet connection.
• A USB cable to connect your Trezor device to your computer (included with your Trezor device).
• A secure place to write down your recovery seed (recommended: a paper or metal backup).

Important: The recovery seed is critical for restoring access to your wallet if your device is lost, stolen, or damaged. Never store it digitally or share it with anyone.

Step 1: Visit Trezor.io/start

The first step in setting up your Trezor wallet is to visit the official setup page: Trezor.io/start. This page will guide you through the process of installing the Trezor Suite software, which is necessary to interact with your device.

On the Trezor.io/start page, you’ll see an option to download Trezor Suite for Windows, macOS, or Linux. Choose the correct version for your operating system.

Note: Always download software directly from the official Trezor website to ensure that you are using the latest and most secure version of Trezor Suite.

Step 2: Install Trezor Suite

Once you've downloaded Trezor Suite, follow the instructions for your operating system to install the software. The installation process is straightforward:

1. Open the downloaded file and follow the on-screen instructions to install Trezor Suite.
2. Once the installation is complete, launch Trezor Suite from your desktop or applications folder.
3. If prompted, allow the necessary permissions for the software to run on your system.

Tip: Make sure that your computer is free from malware or viruses. This will help ensure that your Trezor device and recovery seed remain secure throughout the setup process.

Step 3: Connect Your Trezor Device

Now that Trezor Suite is installed, it’s time to connect your Trezor device to your computer. Follow these steps:

1. Plug the USB cable into your Trezor device and connect it to your computer.
2. When your Trezor device is connected, Trezor Suite will automatically detect the device and ask you to begin the setup process.

Note: If you are using Trezor Model T, you'll also need to unlock the touchscreen to proceed with setup.

Step 4: Initialize Your Trezor Wallet

After your device is connected, you’ll be asked to initialize your wallet. If this is a brand-new device, follow these steps:

1. Create a new wallet: Trezor will ask if you want to create a new wallet. Select this option.
2. Choose a PIN: Set up a 4-9 digit PIN for your Trezor device. This PIN will be required each time you access your wallet.
3. Write down your recovery seed: Trezor will provide you with a 12-24 word recovery seed. Write these words down carefully and store them in a secure place.

Important: Your recovery seed is the only way to restore your wallet if your device is lost, stolen, or damaged. Keep it safe and never share it with anyone.

Step 5: Verify Your Recovery Seed

After you’ve written down your recovery seed, you’ll be asked to verify it by entering the words in the correct order. This step ensures that you’ve correctly recorded your seed and can recover your wallet in case of emergency.

Be sure to enter the words carefully, as any mistake may result in a failed verification. Once verified, your Trezor wallet will be fully set up and ready to use!

Step 6: Install Additional Apps (Optional)

After setting up your Trezor wallet, you may want to install additional apps to manage specific cryptocurrencies. Trezor Suite supports multiple cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), and many others. To install apps for these currencies:

1. In Trezor Suite, navigate to the “Device” tab.
2. Select “Install” next to the apps for the cryptocurrencies you wish to use.
3. Follow the on-screen instructions to install the apps to your Trezor device.

Tip: Only install apps for the cryptocurrencies you plan to use. This helps keep your device organized and efficient.

Step 7: Start Using Your Trezor Wallet

Your Trezor wallet is now set up and ready for use! You can start sending and receiving cryptocurrencies through Trezor Suite. Here’s what you can do:

• Receive Cryptocurrency: To receive crypto, open the wallet for the specific currency, click “Receive,” and copy your address.
• Send Cryptocurrency: To send crypto, go to the “Send” tab, enter the recipient’s address, and confirm the transaction on your Trezor device.

Always double-check the recipient address to avoid errors. Trezor’s secure interface will confirm every action you take.
